Texas "snow"

This Wednesday we had an awful storm- complete with Texas "snow." In other places this is generally known as hail. We were lucky enough to not be in the area where tornados touched down and didn't sustain any damage, however, Mark's brother did have to drive home through the mess and scored a cracked windshield and dinged up car from the hail.

Pouring rain/hail:

Mark and I spent the entire storm glued to the windows, on the lookout for the slightest hint of a funnel cloud, just to make sure that we didn't have to dive into the laundry room (our inner-most, therefore safest, room) and protect Wade- ahhh the joys of parenthood :) Wade, on the other hand, slept through the whole thing!

The mud pit and ghetto fence, also known as our backyard:

More eating pictures, just because I think they're so cute! Mark recently told me that we don't need a picture of him EVERY time he eats... but I disagree!

"Real" food!

You can't make me try it!

I told you I wouldn't like it!

Maybe it's not so bad... as long as I can make a COMPLETE mess!

The new stats are in...

Today we went to the doctor for Wade's 4 month check up. He did really well- up until the shots. At his 2 month appointment, I think he was more startled than hurt and only cried a little bit. This time, however, he cried and cried and cried and cried. So much that the nurse tried to bribe him with a little squeaky toy to get him to quiet down. Even the receptionist up front heard him! If you haven't been keeping track here are his stats:

Birth: 8 lbs, 21 1/4 inches
2 weeks: 8 lbs 7 oz, 22 inches
2 months: 13 lbs 12 oz, 24 1/4 inches
4 months: 17 lbs 5 oz, 27 1/4 inches
Sometimes I like to play with my toes, but...

Sometimes I like to stretch way out to my full 27 inches:

Currently he is in the 90th percentile for weight and above the 95th percentile for his height. The doctor says not to buy basketball shoes yet, but they could be in his near future! He also said that we could start letting him play around with a couple ounces of rice cereal mixed with milk in the mornings and at night. We'll let you know how that goes....
Practicing for the real thing (early in the morning, notice the bed-head):

Spring Break 2009

During Spring Break, Wade and I were definately party animals! Not really... We did, however, spend a ton of quality mommy-son time together. We went to visit Elena and baby Jackson, Sharisa and baby Kent went on a hike with us, and we went to the Austin Rodeo. I had so much fun spending the days with Wade I know I will be sad to go back to school. Only 11 more weeks to go until summer... not like I'm counting the days or anything (54).
Sharisa and (sleeping) baby Kent:

The water was NOT a hit, I think it may have been just a little cold on his feet:

Listening to the peaceful sounds of the stream:

Good thing I don't have twins:

All tuckered out after a long hike (it kind of looks like he's sleeping standing up):

The Wade-alarm

I'm so excited that it's our very first day of Spring Break- I don't even care that it's nasty, cold and rainy outside!!! I get to spend a whole week at home with the little monster :) This is what we wake up to on the weekends, our very own Wade-alarm (sorry that it's kind of hard to see, but it was still fairly early):

I believe he's taking after his daddy and starting to love the TV, he is completely mesmerized by it! Here he is being a couch potato:

I remember putting up a picture of one of Wade's first baths. He hated it and still had plenty of room in the "tub." Here is a recent photo, and as you can see he really fills it up. He loves his bath time now and enjoys getting his mom & dad soaking with all the splashing he's learning to do!

What happens at Grandma's house...

We are lucky enough to have Grandma and Grandpa Maruszak take care of Wade while Mark and I are at work. Here's some things that they do during the day...

Random photos and another video :)

Not much is going on lately. We're just enjoying the warm spring weather and starting to put our garden together. School, however, is a little crazy. TAKS testing is over (for now) and we're all not-so-patiently waiting for Spring Break.

Wade is growing so fast- all we ever hear is "He's how old!?! Wow, he's a big boy!" Now he's too big for 3 month clothes and is wearing 6 & some 9 month sizes. He has his next doctor's appointment on 3/23, so we'll see if he's still ahead of the growing game or if he's starting to slow down. He's starting to become more interested in toys- the keys are a big hit. With quite a bit of concentration, he can pick them up, bang them around for a while, then throw them on the floor. I bet this is only the beginning of teaching Mommy to fetch...

Here are some random recent photos and since Grandma and Grandpa K. are such big fans of the videos, here's another one.

He can't decide whether he wants to laugh or cry...

Mark & Wade were trying out the hiking backpack. Wade really liked it at first, but I was a little slow with the camera and he started to get tired of it...

And finally, here he is enjoying his morning cup of coffee...

Experimenting with video

I was trying to get Wade to talk and got this instead:

I thought this was a great picture of his blue, blue eyes!
