Getting to be a such a big boy

Well, after a slight issue with too many bananas in Wade's diet we decided to do some research on what else he could eat. It turns out that when they're ready babies can try pretty much any new foods (within reason- I think jalapenos and steak are a no no for awhile), it doesn't just have to be rice cereal and bananas. They are just the suggested foods by tradition! I guess constipation is also a tradition... So we did some experimenting with pears- they turned out to be a big hit! I have a feeling there isn't going to be much this kid turns down in the food department.

He has also out-grown the sink :( So lately we've been giving him a bath in the bath tub! He isn't quite sitting up yet, so we have to use a little mesh recliner to prop him up until he can graduate to his own mini-tub. He loves it and splashes happily every time!

Speaking of sitting up, Wade is starting to sit up on his own. Even if it's just for a few seconds at a time, that's still progress! He hasn't quite mastered the rolling over yet, but he is nearly there too. I was thinking he might do all the developmental stuff a little "late" because he is carrying a few extra pounds, but he's such a mover and shaker, I think he's going to try and keep up with all the other babies. I will try to get some pictures, but it's such a quick accomplishment, it's hard to capture on camera. Maybe video would be better...

Wade has also started teething, and if I'm looking at it correctly (which I could absolutely not be), it almost looks like he's getting in 6 at once... I have had confirmation from an experienced mommy who agrees that it's at least 4. Needless to say, there is a lot of biting and drooling going on around here. Especially since he has learned to blow raspberries lately!

Grandma and Grandpa K. are coming into town tomorrow, I can't wait for them to see Wade! They haven't seen him since he was 2 weeks old, except via video-cam. It will be interesting to see if Wade recognizes their voices. I will definately have some good pictures to post of this visit and the upcoming wedding!! :)

Happy Easter

We had a long, beautiful, sunny Easter weekend. We were supposed to get severe storms, but instead just got sprinkles during the day and the hard rain came at night. So, we spent the weekend planting (during the sprinkles), relaxing and on Easter Sunday, we went to church and Grandma and Grandpa M's for lunch. We had to spend some time walking around during church, because Wade had some loud comments to make about the sermon :)

Wade likes to stand up all the time now. I sometimes even have to feed him standing up!

I wonder what you'd get if you planted a baby...

Happy Easter!

Wade didn't really like the rice cereal mixture I had been giving him. So I tried bananas mixed with breastmilk and VOILA- the kid loves it, as you can see:

The vibrating chair has an underwater scene that blows bubbles and it's exciting EVERY time :)

GO GREEN! GO WHITE!

Wade is all pumped for the big game tonight... We'll see if this outfit makes it that long.

Texas bluebonnet tradition

I'm going to start a yearly tradition (along with all the other Texans) of taking pictures in the bluebonnets. Of course, I will have to convince Mark to put on a nice shirt, scout out the most beautiful patch of wildflowers, fight off all the other picture-taking parents, and ignore the roar of the cars as they rush by (inevidibly it will be alongside the highway). But we will prevail and get some great pictures. Here are the first of many to come...
