Whew, is all I can really say!

This week has been a long ride. Here are some things we accomplished/are in the process of accomplishing:

1. Wade moved into his very own room! It was getting to be pretty cramped quarters in Mommy and Daddy's room, so Wade moved into his own big boy room. It's going pretty well, but he's still getting used to the differences, such as the window facing the west so it's really bright in there. This makes it hard to fall asleep at night and for naps...

2. We are working on teaching Wade to fall asleep by himself. He has relied on Mommy for 7 months to rock him to sleep and now he's having a hard time adjusting to going to sleep by himself. Hindsight is 20/20, right? Man, I can see where I may have went wrong on this one :)

3. He's finally mastered the art of rolling over and sometimes practices during the middle of the night. He usually hates it when he gets stuck on his belly, so we have to come rescue him. This time, he apparently was too tired to protest.

4. One day, Daddy said, "Why are you so grumpy, are you getting more teeth?" The thought had not dawned on me, I just thought it was all the other changes going on that were making him crabby. But lo and behold- another tooth had popped through! Score one for Daddy! The tooth is not directly above the other 2, just to the left of center, which I'm hoping will keep him from grinding his teeth... He loves to gnaw on carrots, they must feel pretty good on those sore gums. Don't worry Grandpa K., I won't let him actually eat the carrots...

5. We are finally seeing actual evidence of Wade learning to respond to us. If he's upset, or you ask him if he wants up, he'll put his arms up to be picked up. When we say "no, no, no" he shakes his head back and forth. It's the cutest thing right now, but I can imagine when he starts yelling back the "no, no, no" at us it won't be so cute.

6. Daddy celebrated his first father's day. Wade cooked him breakfast, made him a cake and gave him a digital frame for his key chain (with a little help from Mommy). He spent most of the day "getting stuff done" and napping. That night, we went over to the neighbor's house to grill some stuff- apparently it was a wonderful day all around :)

Just some cute pictures:

Look at that chubby baby butt! This might be a good blackmail photo years down the road...

We cleaned our junk room and look what we found!

Sink or swim?

We started "shrimp" swimming classes this week. Here is a brief overview of the first 4 classes:

Monday- entered the chilly water briefly (up to his thighs) and screamed for 30 minutes. Walked around the pools and sat on the edge while being distracted by car keys. After class was over, entered the family pool and seemed to really enjoy being in the water, however, still distracted by the keys. Wow are babies ever buoyant!!! It is almost impossible to dunk them under the water, which I did, and since class was OVER, he didn't mind. Fell asleep after 4 minutes in the car and conked out for 2 1/2 hrs when we got home.
Tuesday- entered a slightly warmer pool, very, very slowly. Played and splashed for about 20 minutes and even let me float him on his back and dunk him under the water. But, when he caught sight of the instructor (whom he is terrified of), he cried for the last 10 minutes. Fell asleep after 6 minutes in the car, but then boycotted his nap for another 2 hours when we got home.
Wednesday- Daddy came to watch and he played for about 10 minutes, then cried on and off for the last 20. He didn't mind sitting on the edge or standing on my legs, but floating was out of the question. Fell asleep after 6 minutes in the car, then took a normalish 1 hr nap at home.
Thursday- watched a little girl "walk" into the pool and thought he should do the same, so we slowly "walked" down the steps and he played, splashed, floated on his back, yelled, put his own face in the water (accidentally, but still) jumped off the edge into my arms (with a little assistance) and was even dunked under the water with hardly any protest. Still seems to be terrified of the instructor though... What a good way to end this week's classes. We have 4 more to go and hopefully by the end, he'll be able to "swim" under water. That seems like an awfully big request though...

Play date

Wade had his very first play date last weekend at Elena and JP's house. He was so excited, however, that he skipped his afternoon nap! He managed to stay awake the entire time and hung out with all the other naked babies- Ramsey, Jackson, Luke and little 5 week old Pia- but you can definately see the sleepiness in his eyes. At the end, Elena's photographer friend had the idea to pile them all in to a chair. I thought it was really cute but Wade didn't seem to think so :)

Garden- finally

Here is our awesome garden. Mark planted everything from seed and it's all been done naturally and organically- no chemicals. He says the key is seaweed (shhhh, don't tell anyone). You can see how much it's grown in only 1 month. We have zucchini, summer squash, many types of peppers, many types of tomatoes, many types of beans, cucumbers, pickling cucumbers and Malabar spinach. Here are some pix... Hopefully the squirrels will actually leave some of it for us to eat :(

Teeth!

We're off to an exciting start to our summer vacation. We got Wade's pictures taken at Walmart, but will never go back there! The lady was CRAZY and scared Wade to death. There are no pictures of him smiling. Most of them are of him warily watching her. I still had to order a few though :) If you want to view them, go to portraits.pictureme.com. Enter "Muruszak" for the last name and 12991 for the studio id. The session number is 101204.
I signed us up for swim classes and Wade officially becomes a "shrimp" on the 22nd. I can't wait!! I'll let you know how that goes.
Here are some other things we've been up to:
Playing with my dogs (Babe is bracing for the worst)
Making messes

Growing teeth, drooling and boycotting sleep, good thing Mommy doesn't have to get up and go to work for a while!

Updates...

I know, I know... It's been way too long! Well, school's out for the summer and I can't wait to start spending my days with Wade. I have big ideas for a sign language class with Sharisa and Kent and I also see some swimming lessons in Wade's future :)

Apparently between 25-28 weeks things really start happening! Wade is now sitting up on his own, rarely does he fall over- I think he only does it when he's bored with sitting up, or he thinks we forgot about him! He rolled over a bunch of times and then hasn't done it since. Mark has a theory that he can- if he wants to, but he just doesn't want to!
He is also starting to experiment with a sippy cup of water and seems to really like it. Most of it ends up down his chin onto his shirt though...
During the day, we love to play in his bouncer and outside in his swing. He has become such a character lately. He loves the dogs and any time Riley comes near him, he bursts out laughing. I'll have to try to catch that one on video.
We went to the doctor for his 6 month appointment and shots. He is 19 lbs and 15 oz (Mark was so disappointed that he didn't break the 20 lb mark) and 29 inches. That puts him at the 75% for weight and still above the 95% for height- the doctor thinks we may have a basketball player on our hands!
As soon as I can figure out how to crawl- I'm coming to get you!

The bouncer makes me crazy!

Dad pushes me really high and I have to hang on tight!
