Today at 3:45 pm Wade turned two years old.

It was two years ago today, that I got up and went to work. I came home early, had a baby, ate some dinner and went to bed :) What a wonderful day it was and I can't believe how fast the time has flown since then...

This year, we got up and had Mickey Mouse pancakes for breakfast. We ran around trying to find brown shoes for our family picture (which you'll see are NOWHERE in the picture- grrr!), got a smoothie, went to the park and took our first family picture. Here are some pictures of what we did today on Wade's actual birthday:

"Mikka Mouse papakes!"

Brrr...
Now that we're 2, we're very brave.
...and very independent- "Mama, I do it!"
My new favorite picture :)
Yay! Our first family photo!

I'm 2!

Well, not quite yet, but we did celebrate Wade's birthday today. We had so much fun with all of our friends and family relaxing, hanging out and playing. It was nice to be able to invite some of Wade's friends this year, not just ours. We played outside for a little while, and there were wagon rides given by Jackson, sandbox time, basketball and catch, sidewalk chalk and meals being made in Wade's new kitchen. There were trucks and tools, baby dolls and cars, so much going on and sooooo much fun!

Mark and I completely finished all our pre-party prep by 4:29 (with the help of Maryanne and Brandon). I got to enjoy most of the party snapping pictures and chatting with friends, however, I do wish I had gotten more pictures of all the kids playing. It wasn't until about 6:00 that I realized I hadn't eaten since breafast! Oh well, it flew by and Wade had a blast- and so did everyone else from what I can gather. Here are some of the photos I caught throughout the day:

Probably the best ten bucks I ever spent! Wade LOVED this huge Mickey Mouse balloon!

Baby Callan came to play (with Brian and Greg).

Blowing out candles. It's slightly blurry, but the only picture of the (very nearly successful) Mickey Mouse cake I made.

After cake (just the frosting, mostly) with the far-off, sugar induced look)!

After everyone left, we opened a few presents.

Putting together his new train set (or doing yoga, I'm not sure...)

Winding down after a long day. What a wonderful birthday :)

Other random Halloween-ish pictures

Wade loved the idea of digging inside the pumpkins, until...

...he realized that it got his fingers all ucky.

What's more fun than pumpkin carving?
Putting a bucket on your head and...

...sitting inside, yes inside, a bush.

But the pumpkins do look super-cool when they are finished!
Nice job, Momma!

Umma and Wade making Halloween cookies.

Wade and purple-haired Momma watching them bake.

First taste of s'mores. Verdict- Mmmm!

Thanks for the Halloween light, Nene and Papa!!
But, sometimes I do just have to wonder what he's thinking...

Handy Manny or Bob the Builder... depending on who you ask!

Wade was Handy Manny for Halloween, however, Bob the Builder is apparently more popular because that's who everyone thought he was. Except one 5 year old boy, who exclaimed, "I know who you are- you're Handy Manny!" Smart kid :)

Swinging with Uncle Greg

Wade had a great time on Halloween this year! First, we went over to Maryanne's house to take pictures with the girls, who were adorable pink poodles. We then went to one of her neighbors houses and did our first trick or treat. After he realized the game, at the second house, he ran right up, knocked on the door and said, "More, please!"

Annabelle- Pink Poodle #2

We came back home, got ready and loaded him up into the wagon to go trick or treating around our block. After Wade realized there was CANDY inside all those shiny packages, he started sucking on them until the gooey, melted chocolate was squeezed out. Great problem-solving skills... Then came his cry for "stickers" (suckers) over and over again until we gave in. Needless to say, for the rest of the trip, every time he reached into a bowl of candy, 6 treats stuck to his gooey, slimey, sticky hands.

I figured bedtime would be a nightmare, but as he was going to sleep and going back over his day (as usual), he repeated "tick uh teet" over and over until he fell asleep. I know he had a great time getting dressed up- he even kept his hat and tool belt on all night. He loved seeing all the other dressed-up kids, and especially getting "treaters" as he called them. What a fun night, but now we have as much candy from Wade's bag sitting on the kitchen counter as we bought to hand out to other trick or treaters... Hmmm, what a strange cycle...
