Nene & Papa visit!

Ok, so apparently I started this post back in mid-July... I guess it's about time I finish it up, huh?
Well, Nene and Papa came to visit this summer for Gavin's birthday and stayed (and stayed and stayed- j/k!) until we drove back up to MI with them on July 8th.

We did many things including spending most of our time outside (before it was 100 degrees EVERY DAY), usually either hanging out on the fence or in the sandbox.

Ahhh! New sand!

Wade and Nene

Army guys are doing something very serious. I would NOT interrupt if I were you... Good call on the army guys Papa :)

We also did some painting. Here, Nene is showing Wade the fine art of painting his hair, the table and his arms. My favorite part was when she said, "Ok, we're ready to clean up." My response to that? "You know where the bathroom is..."

She has that proud "I'm the Grandma and I can get away with anything" look doesn't she...?

Acccording to Nene, "He ran out of paper."

Wow. There are no words.

We also drove to Canyon Lake for Gavin's birthday and to spend some time with everyone. We had a lot of fun and so did the kids.

Cousins playing nice (for the moment)

So the grandparents really wanted a picture with their grandkids. In about 20 seconds we quickly took about 50 pictures and this is the best we could get. Apparently we're boring Wade, though...

Ok, so I still have to catch up on our trip to MI, which I'm hoping to do before winter ;) Just kidding. Hoping to be all caught up with vacations and summer fun this weekend. But don't hold me to it...

Sea World Trip

Shamu!

We took our first trip to Sea World this year with Sharisa and Kent. We hadn't seen them in so long, so it was great to get to spend some time with them. Since they live in nearby San Antonio, they were old pros at Sea World, however it was all new to Wade who spent the entire time wide-eyed and especially loved the "movies."

Sharisa & Kent

We watched an acrobatic water show ("movie" to Wade) called Azul with dolpins and beluga whales and of course the amazing Shamu show including a new baby killer whale.

We got to feed slimy fish (which Wade wouldn't touch) t0 the barking sea lions, watch the penguins, check out the reptile/amphibian room and play in the kids water park. The boys were troopers and stayed awake the entire time- except Kent who fell asleep during our last stop- the Shamu show!

Both Kent & Wade were rolling around on the floor with these giant stuffed penguins. I just wasn't fast enough to get a picture of both of them!

Water park!

We had so much fun, and the best part was that it didn't cost a thing since teachers get in for free this summer and kids under 3 are free :D I can't wait to go back again... this summer- since it's cheap!

The Garden 2011 edition

So I realized that I never posted any pictures of Mark's garden this year. Since it was so late in the year, I didn't get many good pictures :(

Every year the garden just gets better and better. This year we had asparagus beans (super long ones), various herbs, tomatos, peppers and my favorite- eggplants. YUM!
