Little soccer player!

Ok, ok, so I may be a little biased. But, I think after watching this video (although a little long since I could't get the edited version to upload), you may just agree that Wade has some amazing soccer skills :)

The cool thing is, neither Mark nor I taught him how to do this! He has always been able to kick a ball pretty straight, but just started this fancy little run/kick thing on his own. LOVE IT :)

(By the way, please ignore desert-like landscape of our yard. We're just lucky it didn't all burn up or blow away.)

Choo choo!

Last week we went on our 2nd Annual Day out with Thomas (the train) trip. We got to ride the big steam engine (decorated to look just like Thomas), play with train sets, do some arts and crafts, play minature golf, jump in a bouncy train and enjoy the music and silly clowns. The only part of the day that was a bit of a challenge had to do with him getting up at 5:45 that morning. He was so tired, we definitely had a few meltdowns...

Wade absolutely loved the train ride. He kept wanting it to go faster!

Minature golf was a close second to the train ride, we probably played for close to an hour.

Standing in front of a picture of Thomas with his new whistle. I kept asking him if he wanted to take a toy home and he would say, "no thanks, Momma." I finally talked him into a whistle (why a whistle, I don't know) so he wouldn't regret not getting anything later. I thought that was pretty sweet though :)

Here he is in front of the "real" Thomas

Isn't it cool how they transform the engine? It even blows smoke and everything!

Number 2!

The word's out! We're 8 weeks along with Number 2! He/she is about the size of a kidney bean right now and has started to develop little fingers, toes and earlobes. His/her lungs are starting to develop and the little heart is beating. So much happens so quickly right now!

This is definitely a whole new ballgame then when I was pregnant with Wade. I knew after about 3 days in that I was pregnant! I was sore, sleepy and slightly nauseated. I just didn't feel right. I did some research online and called my mom to see if she thought I was crazy. In her words, "Once you're pregnant, you just are." Very true... I haven't felt very good this time around and have had a hard time stomaching many foods. With Wade I ate anything and everything. Now, I'm sticking to bland foods like mashed potatoes and soup because everything else pretty much makes me gag :)

We loved how Wade's birth went and are planning to have Number 2 at home as well. However, our last midwife, Mary, wasn't there when Wade was born and we never truly "clicked" with her. We loved her assistant, Cammie, who helped deliver Wade, but she doesn't do midwifery anymore :( So... we are in the market for a new midwife and met with our first one yesterday. She was super nice and really close to us. We have one more to meet with on Sunday and I bet we'll make a decision between the two then.

We do have an OB/GYN appointment on the 19th because Mark just feels better starting off that way. We'll go once, hear the heartbeat and then make the switch. With Wade, we didn't start with the midwife until about 20 weeks, so we won't have as many ultrasounds this time around & I know he's a little disappointed about that. We still will find out if this is a girl or boy around 20 week, the midwife will send us to get an ultrasound. We just can't wait to be surprised- sorry dad!

Here is my first prego pictures- pretty much just a bunch of bloating as I am still in the "fat" phase :)

The big move

Wade made the big move into "Nene's room" this week, pretty uneventfully. He loves his new blue room and especially his new Buzz sheets (yes, a bribe- just in case it was too traumatizing to take over Nene's room).

Mark and Dave (with little help from Wade) did a great job painting the walls a beautiful shade of blue and even coated the ceiling with a dark navy. We got him all moved in, his car decals up, his furniture situated and even stars on the ceiling.

So far, the only difference has been that he can now reach the hall light by climbing up on his gate, which likes to turn on and off when he's supposed to be sleeping... If it's not one thing, it's another! Oh and by the way, don't even ask about Wade's old room. It looks like a yard sale exploded in there.

The dog situation

Recently we found a new home for Sugar, and we were in the process of finding a new home for Riley. As one last ditch effort, we let Riley out of his outdoor kennel to wander around the yard as Wade played to see what would happen. Like a moth to a flame, Wade targeted Riley, who played along, but kept a few steps ahead of him the whole time. We groomed him and bathed him (Riley, not Wade) and decided to let him inside to hang out for the evening.

So far, so good. We've had no incidents (either with Wade's toys or Wade himself), but we keep a close eye on him especially when Wade decides he needs to hug, jump on, attack or relentlessly chase Riley around. Some days Riley makes Wade especially mad, because he likes to stick his nose into everything and Wade doesn't like that. It's pretty comical to hear Wade getting so annoyed! I guess he's just not used to a dog that acts like a dog- Babe is an exception, I'm pretty sure she's part human :)

In fact, it almost seems like Riley has taken a liking to Wade. Here's the whole crew playing in the sandbox:
