Happy 3rd birthday, Wade!

This year, Wade's birthday was actually on Thanksgiving. It was a little hard for him to understand why he had to wait until the weekend to have his party, but we made sure that he had fun on Turkey Day too :)

We asked him what he wanted for his birthday breakfast, and of course his answer was DONUTS! I crossed my fingers that the donut shop was open on Thanksgiving morning and Wade and I hopped in the car. Luck was on our side, and Wade enjoyed picking out a variety of donuts and chatting with the few other customers inside.

When we got home, we turned his donut into a birthday donut and sang happy birthday (twice, because he thought it was the best thing ever). Then we opened a few presents and spent the rest of the morning playing with his new toys.

After that, we headed over to Mary's house to have Thanksgiving dinner. But to Wade, it was just another opportunity to tell people it was his birthday, that he was 3 years old and to have dessert :)

On Saturday, we had a small family party for Wade. While Wade was supposed to be napping that afternoon, I hung a bunch of Toy Story decorations and got a few balloons. He was so excited, however, he kept coming out of his room to peek at what was going on and got no sleep at all! This year we kept it super simple, with just pizza, cake- Wade wanted nothing to do with cupcakes :) - and of course, Buzz Lightyear! The cousins played and everyone had fun eating and visiting, especially the birthday boy!

This Buzz was waaay bigger than Wade!

He was super fun to toss in the air, but baby Thomas wasn't so sure about it. It startled him every time!

Mary and 3 of her grand kids, all playing nice

Wade getting a closer look at cousin Thomas

He was very explicit in his cake request- swirl/marble cake (not cupcakes), chocolate frosting (no colors) and a Buzz candle. I think I got it right...

After all the sugar, we set up an obstacle course for the kids. And Uncle Tim.

Fancy dismount from Wade (he lost his shirt somewhere...)

Very interested in the McDonald's gift card from Uncle Dennis

Trying out the remote control space ship

Ready, aim, fire! Thanks Nene and Papa for Wade's first firearm :)

Toy Story 3 trash dump. It's so interactive, he can play with this for many minutes! I'd say hours, but I'd be lying :)

Why would you paint the bathtub, when your belly is available? Thanks Bowdens :)

All nice and clean after a long day of partying!

Working

It has taken awhile, but we finally discovered the perfect medium for Wade to practice his drawing and coloring skills. He's not interested in crayons; markers are fun, but sometimes too messy; the same with paint. So we tried out pencils and he LOVES them. Wade carries around a bucket filled with 10 or so colored and plain lead pencils. He'll find a good place, pull out his drawing book and get to work. He has even begun holding the pencils correctly. Pretty cool, I think!

Working hard in the office

I found Wade up in our window seat one day, working away!

15 weeks

After a 24 hour bout with a terrible stomach virus, I am feeling much better and back to my old self. I did have a little baby guilt though, because I couldn't eat anything (or keep anything down for that matter) for an entire day and lost a few pounds. However, the day after I was feeling better, I felt little Number 2 kick! I think he/she was just letting me know that everything was just fine. I have felt him/her kick nearly every night as I'm sitting on the couch relaxing before bed. Pretty early compared to when I felt Wade moving around, and definitely very exciting!

Happy Halloween!

First of all, just let me apologize for the quality of the pictures lately... Our camera just stopped working one day. Luckily, I had an old camera from a few years back which I had been using at school and it obviously doesn't take the best quality pictures and frequently drains the batteries (so we don't have as many pictures as I'd like). Our regular camera miraculously started working again, so the photo quality should improve slightly on upcoming posts :)

Anyway... this year Wade wanted to be Buzz (of course) and was a serious trick or treat trooper! He went up to the doors by himself and almost always remembered to say, "trick or treat" and "thank you." He even went back up to a door one time because he forgot to say thanks (melts my heart...) One of his best tricks though (and he thought this up all on his own, I swear), was asking for 2 extra pieces of candy, "for my mommy and daddy." It worked every time!

These are the little monsters I made for all the kids this year. They were so much fun to make and I think they turned out super cute! Hope everyone had a happy Halloween!

Trip number 2 to Sweetberry Farms!

Wade and I decided to take another trip to Sweetberry Farms with a MOPS mom and her son, Jack. It was nice to go when it wasn't raining and muddy! The boys got along great (Jack just turned 2, so Wade gets a chance to be the older one) and had a lot of fun climbing on the pumpkins, feeding the goats, playing in the flowers and riding the "train."

A few fall things

Here are a few things we've been up to recently...

Wade has learned how to ride his tricycle :) It was so hot during the summer that we stored his trike away until we saw cooler temperatures. Now that it's a little nicer out, we got it back out and he has mastered riding it like a pro! He was so good at it, that we also took out the little tiny two-wheeler that was handed down to us (with training wheels, of course) and he's pretty good on that too! Of course, he likes the trike better though, because he's more steady and can go faster :)

There have also been quite a few fall festivals going on lately, this last one was at a local YMCA and was HUGE! There were bounce houses, food vendors, carnival games and a petting zoo. We spent our time divided between the bounce houses and petting zoo. Here are a few of the "friends" that Wade made :)

Painting pumpkins

A few weeks ago, we went over to our friend April's house to do some pumpkin painting with the kids. The boys, however, were way more interested in playing on the playscape and chasing eachother around, so we did most of the painting :) Oh well, it was a ton of fun hanging out with fellow MOPS mom, Katie, and her son Jack and of course April and Parker.

We've been seeing a ton of April and her son, Parker, recently. The boys were born just 3 days apart and could not be more alike! Which is *interesting* since they are in the heart of terrible twos and about to enter terrible threes! There are constant battles of hitting, biting and crying only interrupted by silly discussions about whether that's a penguin or a duck on the movie and bouts of playing dress up as Woody and Buzz :) It's so cute seeing these boys grow up together!
