I heart my Ergo

So... I have a Moby wrap (http://www.mobywrap.com/), a Hotslings sling (http://www.hotslings.com/), 2 ring slings that I made (http://www.sakurabloom.com/pixie-collection/) and a Baby Bjorn carrier (http://www.babybjorn.com/us/). But my favorite, by far is now the Ergo baby carrier (http://store.ergobaby.com/)! It wears like the Moby wrap, but is way lighter and super easy to put on. It lets Lily be upright (her favorite position) and right next to me, tummy to tummy (her favorite place to be). I can take it off when she's asleep and she stays asleep. I have read reviews and heard people rave about this awesome piece of baby gear, but I am now a believer. No, this is not a commercial, I just really LOVE it :D

Two months!

Officially two months old (two days ago) and she is already changing so much! Lily has been the smiley-est little girl lately. It's so fun to go get her when she wakes up in the morning or after a nap and see her smile and laugh up at me. She really is very good natured :)

Some things she is doing right now:
*Sucking on her fists or arm. She's one drooly baby!
*Smiling and laughing at people. Right now, she thinks I am the funniest person alive, but brother Wade is a close 2nd :)
*Holding her head up. She loves to look around, especially outside, at the TV, and at people she knows.
*Sleeping through the night. Sometimes she'll wake up once, but that only happens every 3rd or 4th night. Generally, she'll sleep from 10:30pm to 7:30am.
*She likes to be on her belly for short periods. As long as she can get her arm in her mouth, she's good.
*She likes to watch herself in the mirror, she thinks she's pretty funny too!
*She loves to be held and carried. The sling I have has been a lifesaver when I need to get things done and she doesn't want to be put down. I recently got an Ergo baby carrier and can't wait to try it out! It's sort of like a front backpack carrier for your baby.
*She likes to sleep in her bouncer as long as the vibrator is on. Actually, I think I want one of those, it's looks pretty relaxing!

We went to the doctor today for her well check today. She is now 12 lbs, 5 oz (90%) and 22.5 inches (75%). Her length is the same, but both the dr and I are pretty sure that the intern who measured her last time probably measured wrong. She then put Lily on her belly and right away she lifted her head and looked around, which she usually does. The doc was so surprised and said most babies instantly lay their heads down, so she is really strong and has great head control. Then she sat her up (in a sitting position) and was surprised again at how she could control her body, she said she only needed to hold her for balance, so she didn't topple over. The doctor mentioned that she might be sitting up, rolling over, etc. pretty early! Already trying to out-do her brother :) Wade, by the way, was 13lbs, 12 oz and 24 1/4 inches at 2 months. He was also 90%, so I'm guessing they used different standards for boys and girls.

A little behind!

As Lily becomes more aware of her surroundings, but isn't quite on a schedule yet, it's sometimes a little chaotic around here... so I'm just a little behind on my blog!

Luckily, Mark is still off of work on paternity leave and helps out a ton. But lately, he has started to work in the mornings doing some odd jobs for a friend of the family. Which means I'm on my own. With two kids. One of them being in the midst of the LONGEST stretch of terrible twos & terrible threes I have ever heard of! His antics right now include stomping off to his room and slamming the door. Or shouting, "Fine! Then I'll never be your friend!" Or locking his door from the inside, slamming it while he's on the outside, so he cannot go to timeout in his room because now it's locked. Who ever put locks on the inside of these doors apparently didn't have kids.

And of course I do have the mommy guilt that everyone warned me I would have. I feel bad about not being able to spend much one on one time with Wade. He has adjusted pretty well, however, and is getting good at entertaining himself while I nurse or hold his sister. He also knows to be quiet when she is sleeping so we can play together for a little while before she wakes up. He has gone from not liking her, to being pretty indifferent, to thinking she is interesting/amusing. He likes to ask what she is saying, to talk to and explain things to her, and to hug and hold her (occasionally, if the mood strikes him). She smiled and laughed at him the other day and he thought it was great. So great in fact he asked if he could give her a kiss, to which he then said, "Eww! A baby kiss!"

Lily is growing like a weed. Next week, she'll be 2 months old. I don't feel like she's as chunky as Wade was, but I think she's pretty long. We'll see at her checkup next month. She's holding her head up and likes to smile often. Those first smiles are always so amazing to see :) She recognizes voices and turns when someone she knows is talking. She is also still a great sleeper (crossing my fingers)- and sleeps from around 10:30pm to 7:30am almost every night. I'm one lucky momma to be getting that much sleep!

Ok, enough typing, here are the pictures!

What do you do when it's raining outside?
Put on your boots and go stomp in the puddles of course- even if you're still in your PJ's!

Hello there!

 Coming to get you!
Lily likes being on her belly a lot more than Wade did.

Big blue eyes still :)

To get anything done around here I have to have this little girl attached to me, either in her sling or Moby wrap.
There could be worse things :)

Lately we have been Puss in Boots. Puss is a very dangerous character who carries a knife/toothbrush and often poses like this while waiting for danger:

Summer fun

It's that time of year, where we spend a lot of time in the water. So far, sprinkler parks and swimming pools have been on our list of places to spend the afternoons.

Wade waited patiently for the bucket to dump on him, but he was never lined up quite right...

So, he tried a different one, where it would drench him every time

Dad, catch  me!
