Is it that time again?!?

I know, shocking isn't it!?
4 months old today!
Lily is officially 4 months old today. I keep saying that time is just flying by, but REALLY, it is!

Some things she is up to lately:

Getting the hang of her hands. She can grab toys, her other hand, her toes and anything else of interest. With A LOT of concentration :) Then of course, it goes straight to her mouth.

Trying out new sounds, she likes the "mmmmm" one lately. I think she's practicing to say Mama ;) She also loves to growl at Wade.

Still teething, but nothing has popped out yet. Her gums have a few bumps and look pretty swollen near her upper eye teeth.

Giggles when you tickle her sides, make faces at her, make sounds, pretty much every thing amuses her. She has the greatest little laugh!

Not rolling over yet. Can get to her side, but is pretty content there. But...

Is trying to sit up. She can balance pretty well from side to side, but doesn't quite have the ab and back muscles yet, so she tends to fold right in half! Pretty soon though...

Had her first "stranger" babysit her at the church nursery for an hour. I thought she was going to cry the entire time since she had a little quiver in her chin when she saw the strange lady trying to take her out of her carseat. I kept waiting for them to call and tell me that she was inconsolable, but they said she was great the whole time. Whew!

Loves her exersaucer. Especially the frog. I seem to remember Wade really liking that one too.

So excited to see this guy again!

Going to the pediatrician for her 4 month check up on the 6th. I'll update with her weight and height then.

10 things...

I just re-read some older posts from when Wade was a few months old. One of them was a list of 10 things a couldn't live without. Here is a new list, very different from the other one :)

1. Family and friends- of course this one will never change!
2. Playdates- to keep me involved in the real world and to keep Wade from climbing the walls at home.
3. Pacifier- so Little Girl can go to sleep all by herself :)
4. Nursing cover- for out-and-about nursing
5. Tablet or phone (with Angry Birds app)- to keep Wade occupied during out-and-about nursing.
6. Ergo carrier- I read somewhere that someone called this the "napmaker." If Lily is having trouble getting to sleep, I just slip her in and she's out like a light in 30 minutes or less. Even Mary can testify to this!
7. Classical music Cd's- So both kids can sleep without one waking the other up.
8. My wonderful stash of cloth diapers and covers- thanks Mom!
9. Adorable hand-me-down clothes for Lily from my awesome sister in law
10. Really can't think of anything else. Guess you just don't need as much stuff the second time around ;)

Spiderman

Here is what we did today:

Went to a new park, just down the road in Cedar Park. It's nice and shady and has lots of different types of climbing apparatus/apparatuses/apparati?

Wade played for a solid hour on the spider web rope climby thing. He was so high up in the air, it made me nervous. But, he did great and even got a few compliments from other moms on how agile he is. Of course he is, don't they know that he's SPIDERMAN?

Climbing on the spider web

Hi mom!

Just for perspective. See how high he is?!

We hung out for a little bit in Wade's room, watching him climb and "do tricks" on his bunk bed. I'm pretty sure he's got some monkey DNA in him somewhere.

Tickling Little Sister. Or poking her, I'm not sure.

Silly girl!

My favorite new outfit. It's a little jumper with an owl peeking out of the pocket. Plus it has these cute little striped leggings and long-sleeved onesie for when it gets cooler :)

New ploy to get Wade interested in letters. This one was an excavating gimmick, complete with fossil-finding tools (aka, a magnifying glass, flashlight and make up brush). He had to find the letters, shapes and other treasures hidden in the rice, match them up on the paper and then dot them with the marker. He really loved the finding and digging, but not so much the dotting part.

Ready for digging.

He loved finding seashells, fake bugs, letters and shapes in the rice tray.

The dotting part was ok, as long as he could pound the marker down and sing while he was working.

Hello out there...

Not a whole lot of new things going on around here. We're looking forward to school starting back up (I have NEVER said that before), so places are not so crowded and for the temps to start dropping a bit. We've been spending time with friends and getting into a little bit of a routine lately.

Lily takes around 3 naps a day, depending on if we are home or not. She will usually lay down for about an hour a little while after she gets up in the morning (which is usually between 6:30 and 7 am), so we either have to get our selves in gear and hit the road early (to the park, play date, etc.) so she can nap in the car or we have to wait until she gets up later in the morning. Then she'll nap during lunch time for another hour or so, and again around dinner time for another hour. Bathtime is right around 7 and bedtime between 7:30 and 8. She's very good about her naps and sleeping, but it will be nice when she starts to consolidate them into just two. She's also still a champ at night, only sometimes waking up around 3 or 4 am because she's so social and NEEDS to talk to her owls, then realizes she's hungry and could use a little snack. But, she's back asleep within a half an hour or so. It only gets exhausting when BOTH kids are up at different times during the wee hours, Wade with his nightmares and being scared of the dark and Lily with her being so happy and excited to be in bed, that she just can't get back to sleep. Could they be any more different?!

Wade's new Play Doh gumball machine. He has asked me to make about a million Play Doh balls, and now we have found a machine to do it for him! Score one for mommy and Wade :)

It's actually pretty cool. It swirls the colors together into pretty marble-like designs. Until, of course, they get all mixed up and become a strange greyish color.

Lily's first time in the bouncer. What is all this stuff?!

Why hello there. And who might you be?

Whew...

Well, we are in survival mode around here... Lily is teething, yes teething. And Wade is... something. He is in full on terrible 3's with a side of 'lets cry all the time, about nothing.' Truly, nothing. The other day, I was helping him put on his Buzz Lightyear costume and asked him to give me his foot, "not that foot, the other foot" and he lost it. Sat down on the floor and bawled. And it's multiple times a day, at least 3, but usually more like 6 or 10.  Not quite sure what is going on with him, but if anyone who reads this has any advice, feel free to give it to me. PLEASE.

So, not quite so many pictures lately. But here's what I've got. More of Lily this time, because she's slower and can't run away from the camera :)

Smiling and talking, as usual :)

Napping ON my pacifier. That can't be comfortable...

Watching big brother play

Tried to interest him in a parking lot alphabet game. Instead, it turned into a car racing game, which led to a marble race, then Buzz Lightyear appeared to help round up all the marbles. Needless to say, there was no parking lot alphabet game today.

Some things to say

Lily has some important things to say lately, we just can't quite figure out what they are... She will talk to anyone (or anything) who will listen. I bet she's just trying to get a word in edgewise around here :)

Wade has really taken to his sister lately. He loves to make her laugh, and giggles really hard when she smiles at him. We were at the park the other day and a little girl came up to look at Lily who was sleeping in her stroller. Wade pushed her away and said, "No! This is OUR baby!" LOL, oh really? Now you like her...? ;)

This is the only way we eat sometimes.

Hey, who's this guy? I should probably talk to him...

A little confused...

It's so funny now that Wade knows all his words, it's the phrases that he gets mixed up. I'm going to try and keep a running tab of the funny things he says :)

Wade needed to give his Cootie bug a check up. He grabbed a magnifying glass and said, "Hmmm, let's check your reflexes with this otoscope. Now say ahhh." Well that's a mixed bag of medical terms. Thanks Doc McStuffins :)

Buzz needed to "dive the plank" (walk the plank). Side note- It was actually off his firetruck off the top bunk. Poor Buzz!

Buzz also needs to "dive!" quite frequently. He means "die," don't think I'll correct that one...

He wasn't mixed up on this one, but it was funny: Mark was leaving one morning while Wade was eating breakfast. He stopped eating and said, "catch you later, Dad."

We need to "uncord" his cartoons on the DVR so we can watch them later.

I know there's more, but of course, I can't think of them on the spot :)

I'm super cute :)

A few random things

Yesterday we got a couple new costumes from Craigslist. This one is a (Disney) Captain Hook costume- the boots and hat you may recognize from previous pirate and Puss in Boots costumes :) The other one is a black ninja costume, complete with sewn in muscles. They are both a little big, but he'll get more use out of them that way. Thanks Craigslist lady, they were only $4 a piece!

Handsome boy :)

Argggggghhhh!

I'm pretty sure every blog entry I talk about what a great sleeper Lily is, because I just don't understand it... We still fight with Wade EVERY SINGLE NIGHT about bedtime (not to mention naptime), or we find him sneaking around, doing random things in his room, her room or the bathroom, while she just peacefully dozes off to sleep. Sigh.

Out like a light, look at that belly :)

Zzzzzzz...
