Happy 5 months to me!

So, you could say she's easily distracted lately :) All she wants to do is look around, touch, or grab things. You can definitely see that in her 5 month pictures! She is changing into a baby and not so much and infant. She loves to play and talk. You can just tell, she can't wait to get moving and follow her big brother around. I am a little nervous about her getting into all his toys though. I think about half of them are too small for her to play with. Not sure if I will put them away for awhile, or just block off his play area. We shall see.

5 months old!

Anyway, here's what she's up to now:
Loves to grab, chew on and bang her toys. Especially ones that make crinkly noises. Or ones that squeak, they really make her giggle!

Has 2 teeth, the ones on the bottom. Not sure if she's getting more or not. She's still drooling like crazy and chewing on things, so who knows.

Speaking of drool, she's entered the stage where spit is fun to blow bubbles and make noises with. I will hear her playing when she wakes up from her nap and when I go get her, her face is a soggy mess. Not to mention her crib sheets. Eww.

She's quite the talker and has added to her vocabulary. Now she will say mmmm, ba and ga. Not to mention uh and oooh. Now, if we could just understand what she's trying to tell us...

Mastered the back-to-belly roll. Any time I lay her down on her back, she instantly flips over to her belly. This really makes diaper changes interesting.

Can sit up, but still a bit wobbly. She will sit for a few minutes sometimes before toppling over or folding in half.

LOVES her toes. Seems like she always has them in her mouth. Especially when she's naked for some reason...

Likes to bang on things- the table, her bumbo tray

Grabs hair. And she's fast too! She snatched a handful of Wade's one day and you should have seen his face, he really wasn't expecting that!

Hey, what's that over there?

Nope, I think it's over there.

Maybe down there...

Side note: These may be the cutest tennis shoes I have EVER seen

Soccer game & sitting up

I feel like every time Wade does something new, Lily has to do something new too! I have visions of future sibling rivalry...

So, Wade had his first official soccer game this past weekend. He REALLY didn't want to play. I was shocked, but I guess (in talking with the other parents) most kids are like this at first. In fact, there were quite a few in tears on the fields and sidelines. Then they suddenly love it. Or they don't and we don't play soccer next year ;)

The only way he'd play was if one of us was actually on the field with him. Which was fine, because we weren't the only ones... In fact, one mom was actually picking her kid up and swinging him around to knock the ball into the soccer goal. That was a little over the top. No one knew whether to congratulate her or her kid on the goal... Another kid kept wandering off the field to play with a hula hoop, until he noticed the blue spray painted lines around the field. Then he crawled all along them instead. His mom said she'd rather have him doing that then running off the field and left him to it. As it turns out, 3-year-old soccer games are pretty entertaining :)

Waiting for the game to begin

Ready, set... ok, just stand there

I'm not so sure about this...

Excited about a goal, or trying to fly off of the field

Over these last few days, Lily has been perfecting her sitting up skills. She can sometimes balance for a few minutes before toppling over. It really is only a matter of time (probably a few days) before she'll be sitting like a pro. She has noticed that the taller she gets, the cooler the toys up there are. Wade's amused by her. For now. Before she really starts to become a pest ;)

Pretty proud of herself :)

Another picture?! I'm just sitting here...

I can see where this is going...

Milestones- soccer & teeth

Wade had his first soccer "practice" this week. What actually happened, was a bunch of parents and kids showed up and waited around for the coach. Who never showed up. Then a YMCA guy came out, delivered our uniforms to us and told us to choose a coach among ourselves. So... We fumbled around having the kids kick the soccer balls into the goals for the remaining time, decided who would bring a snack to our first game (this Saturday), and said we would figure out the coaching thing later... Huh, not quite what I expected.

Trying to kick it into the goal.

Ready, set, kick!

Lily decided today would be a big day for her also. She learned how to roll over (back to belly, the hard one) and got her second tooth (bottom front/right). What a day!

Love my new clothes! Thanks Nene & Papa K.

Fall (ish) weather

It's starting to cool down around here and I am LOVING it! And by cool down, I mean that it's not 100 or even 90 degrees outside. This whole week it has been in the 80's and even down in the 60's at night. Yes, that is cool. Remember, it IS Texas ;)

We went to the YMCA park with Shelly and the kids the other day, and boy was it windy! The kids had fun on the playscape and playing in the sandbox. Lily has taken to yelling at her cousins and brother as they play. She probably thinks it's the only way they will hear her. I think she's right :)

Catch up...

It's been a while. Unfortunately, I also don't have a ton of minutes right now since Lily is waking up from her nap... But her are some pictures :)

Trains!

Hello there :)

Found my toes, and they are DELICIOUS!

My new tooth. You may have to squint a little to actually see it, but it's there. I promise!

Repeat

Today we decided to do a repeat of a couple weekends ago... First went to Natural Gardener to check out the veggie plants (they hadn't gotten any yet) and to let Wade pet the donkeys and goats and basically run around outside. We had a cool front come through and it was only a high of 90 today, I don't even think it got that high. It was so nice outside!

After we finished there, we went to a place called Ski Shores for lunch. It's basically a restaurant right on the lake, so you can drive your boat right up to it, if you have one :) It also has a playscape, which is awesome! No pictures of this, but it was a nice lunch. With only one incident of blue slush spilled everywhere. Serves me right for ordering something blue.

Funniest moment today was when Wade told me that his butt and his mouth felt better today. When I asked him if they hurt yesterday, he said no, they just felt really good today. I really didn't have a response to that. Good, I guess...?

Lily has been great lately. I was wondering if she was just a really easy newborn and was coming into herself and becoming a little feisty and fussy. Nope! She's been much happier since that little tooth poked through. I even put her down for bed tonight awake and she put herself to sleep. Such a good girl :)

Scissors

Today we went to the bounce house with my friend, Katie, and her son, Jack. Or "Small Jack," as Wade refers to him :) The boys had a blast and played really well together. When ever these two get together, which is at least once a week, they end up super sweaty and exhausted because they run around together like a couple of maniacs.

Funniest moment today- Wade ran up to me and was really upset at another kid at the bounce house. I asked him why and he said, "A boy told me I was cutting and I am NOT SCISSORS!"

Lily is learning how to use her hands. She does this flapping/flying like a bird thing lately. It really helps her bang on things and splash in her bath! She is also reaching for everything. Looks like I'm going to have to put away all Wades small toys before she starts crawling around!

Chompers

Today Lily got her first tooth! It's the bottom front one, on the left. 1 day short of 19 weeks (I had to go back and count because I'm a slacker mom this time around :)  ), or about a week and a half over 4 months old. I can't believe she's already getting teeth! I truly will miss that little toothless grin. Getting teeth is such a bittersweet time (sigh).

We also had her 4 month check up today. Everything looks great, she now weighs 14 lbs 15 oz (80%) and is 25 1/2 inches long (90%). The doc said we could start solid food any time now, but I think we'll wait. Maybe until she's 5 or 6 months- as long as she's content with just nursing.

We had a successful day- doctor's trip, a mommy errand to return some clothes and a reward trip to grab some Wendy's. Here are some pictures...

Playing Buzz Lightyear slides down the car ramp and escapes on the horse. It's a new game...

Wendy's for lunch

Note the cheese"burger." No meat in this burger...

Look at those cheeks!

Took about a million pictures today and got only a few with her eyes actually open. She's really good a closing them right after the flash, but before I can snap the picture.

So close to rolling over. But, also pretty content just hanging out on her side with her hand in her mouth :)
